On this road trip through sparsely populated rural Saskatchewan, I decided to stick exclusively to the dirt and gravel grid roads. I had scouted several locations during the day and marked their locations on the GPS. As I shot this evening, I was moving between them via the shortest route possible using the GPS as a guide. The moon was full and it was a great opportunity to crank up the tunes and enjoy a nocturnal tour of some lonely roads and remote places I would otherwise never visit. I didn't see another vehicle all night!

While en route to the ghost town of Loverna, I was treated to a display of Northern Lights. I couldn't resist the opportunity to stop and capture this ghostly form on film. The lone pumpjack in the distance seems to add to the sense of solitude.
