This dead limberpine stands atop a hill beside Highway 3 in Southern Alberta near the east entrance to the Crowsnest Pass. The tree is said to be over 730 years old. This might be the most photographed tree in Alberta, as I have seen it many times in print as well as in personal photo albums. Few photo enthusiasts pass this way without stopping to take a picture of this unusual and expressive tree. Why should I be the exception?
